Valentine’s Day Countdown: Ideas For A Romantic Valentine’s Evening
by F. Ron Smith on February 8, 2012With Valentine’s Day coming up next week, now is the time to really solidify those romantic evening or getaway plans. With our busy lives, work and family life, it’s sometimes hard to take the time to plan something romantic. Well, luckily there is at least one day a year where that romanticism is expected. Valentine’s Day.
I’ve put together a short list of ideas for a romantic Valentine’s Day and/or some last minute romantic plans:
Cook her/him Dinner. This is always a winner. In a hectic schedule and with expectations for dinner reservations, a surprise prepared meal of his/her favorite can go a long way. Don’t forget the candles, flowers, and dessert!- Try packing a picnic. A picnic is always a romantic gesture. Just make sure you give your picnic location some thought. Maybe the beach, or a romantic field, forest, view, or lake?
- A night under the stars. This is always very romantic and can really connect you with your partner. Be sure to bring blankets to sit on and wrap up in, in case the February chill is in the air. Maybe a cooler with champagne to toast to your love. Just a thought.
- Try or plan a scavenger hunt. These kinds of activities, even if somewhat hokey or goofy, can be a lot of fun for couples and can bring people closer together. Try throwing in some trivia about your relationship to make it more personal and/or romantic.
- Plan a romantic night out at a hotel, inn, or bed & breakfast. This can get into the more expensive category, but if it’s well planned and well-intentioned, this kind of thing can be a memorable and exciting experience. And only do this if you can afford to. Going beyond your budget is not good for anyone.
- Surprise her/him. Whatever you choose, a surprise is always a romantic and exciting gesture. It keeps your loved one on their toes, in anticipation of what the night has to bring. It’s always fun to be surprised, whether it’s taking care of chores around the house, or getting theater tickets, a surprise goes a long way.
- Be adventurous. Whatever it may be, adventure keeps the spirit alive and keeps relationships exciting. Whether you decide to go camping, go on a road-trip, or go sky-diving it will be an adventure you can share together and spend quality time together.
Whatever you decide to do, remember that the day is not about expensive gifts and luxury getaways. It is about celebrating the love that you share with your partner, and remembering that among the hustle and bustle of our busy schedules, there is still time to treat your loved one to something special.
