Santa Monica Celebrity Poker Tournament: Meet Charlie Sheen and So Much More

by on November 17, 2011

As anyone who knows me will tell you I’m a bit of a poker fanatic, in fact just last week I played in the Roosevelt School Poker Tournament and though I did my best I was unable to hold on to my champion status from the previous year.

Best Happy Hour in Brentwood: Living it up at the Daily Grill

by on October 27, 2011

When thinking of a fun place to grab an after work drink in Brentwood a few months ago my friends and I decided to check out the Daily Grill. Located in the Brentwood Gardens Shopping Center at 11677 San Vicente Boulevard, my first impression of this place was that we might be slightly too young for the early bird crowd occupying the tables inside. Determined to stick it out we opted to set up camp on the large outdoor patio and spent the next couple of hours enjoying what felt like our own private Happy Hour.

Dining Out in Brentwood: Top 5 Lunch Spots on San Vicente

by on October 6, 2011

There are so many things I love about working in Brentwood. The weather, the people, the proximity to home, but one of my favorite things has to be the number of restaurants. If I wanted to, I could walk to a different restaurant every day for at a month and while that experiment might happen down the road (pun intended), today I’d like to give a shout out to my five favorite places to grab lunch on San Vicente.

Coffee is the Latest Cure: Recipes for Comfort in a Cup

by on September 30, 2011

By now, all of us coffee drinkers have proudly and properly poured ourselves another cup after reading the latest research from the Harvard School of Public Health, which found that women who had two to three caffeinated cups a day had a 15 percent lower risk of depression.

That is certainly good news. But I think it is time to get out of the rut of making the same, predictable 14 cups in the Cuisinart coffee maker each morning and changing things up a bit.

Brentwood Real Estate Roundup: Great Deals and Beautiful Homes

by on September 20, 2011

Every Tuesday agents go on what’s known as Caravan across the Westside, using the opportunity to view all of the new properties on the market.

Taking a page out of my friend Donald Pechet’s book, who’s been diligently creating wonderful reviews of homes in the Cheviot Hills area, I decided it’s time to give you the inside scoop on the Brentwood real estate market.

Brentwood’s Coral Trees: A Beautiful Symbol Of Our Community

by on September 14, 2011

Along the main drag, lining the median through beautiful Brentwood, live the majestic and exotic Naked Coral Trees. These larger than life trees are native to South Africa, but thrive in the warmer climates of Coastal Southern California. I have always been extremely fond of these trees and find them to be welcoming landmarks in the Brentwood Community.

Customer Service: Brentwood May Have Some of the Best

by on April 29, 2011

Is customer service a lost skill in this town? After a unhappy shopping experience, I was on a mission to research the customer care in Brentwood and its neighboring community and was most pleasantly surprising by what I found here at home.

The other day, I wanted to purchase a basketball for one of my young nephews. I went into a sporting goods store in Santa Monica, where I was truly shocked to find that there wasn’t anyone who was in the mood to help me find what I was looking for; no one even made a motion in my direction.

Letter Writing: Don’t Let It Become A Lost Art

by on April 21, 2011

Each day when I check my mailbox, I still find myself secretly wishing and hoping there will be at least one handwritten letter there within the stack of bills, throw away circulars and cobwebs.
Could I really be the only one who still finds true joy at opening an envelope addressed to me, with real ink, on an ecru colored piece of Crane stationary, with an embossed return address on the envelope flap?
